Brunei veteran runner wins in Sibu

Veteran long distance runner from Brunei Lee King Hin brought joy and honours to the nation when he came first in the 21km Men's Veteran category of the 8th Sarawak Jubilee Park Half Marathon held in Sibu on Sunday.

Chalking up a time of 1 hour and 21 minutes, Lee beat Lt Col Anthony Samy from Royal Malaysian Navy Force (TLDM) Perak who came second clocking a time of 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Lee won RM800 and a trophy for his effort.

Third placing in the veteran category went to Wong Siew Ming from Sibu Marathon Sports Club (SMSC) followed by Saidi Razak from Kuching and Mohd Danan from Miri.

The 21km Men's Open category was won by Mohd Jironi Riduan from Miri clocking a time of 1 hour 12 minutes.

Second was Vicknasuraran from TLDM Perak who arrived at the finishing line four minutes later.

Third placing went to Saravan Nagenkhan followed by Ishar Ismail, Muruga Karana Karna, Safadul Idham and Jeffery Mujail, all from TLDM Perak.

In the 21km Ladies' Open category, Devamani Sethie from Port Dickson came home first with a time of 1 hour 27 minutes while Lim Mee Eng from SMSC was second and Susila Govindran from Port Dickson was third.

In the 21km Ladies Veteran category, the race was won by Choo Ngiik Hung of Sibu beating her nearest opponent Lau Chui Ming. Third was Ani Besra from Bintulu.
