A visiting family of 10 hailing from Bandung, Indonesia who was at the get-together ceremony with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the Tutong District said they have always been fascinated by the monarch's leadership.
The family arrived at the Brunei International Airport on a flight from Bandung, Indonesia at 8am yesterday and quickly made their way to witness the get-together ceremony to get a chance to meet and greet His Majesty.
"I feel so lucky to have met His Majesty," said Nani from the group of tourists. Nani, who is from the Perwira Siswa Macha National Foster Family, Bandung, Indonesia said they came all the way from Indonesia just to meet His Majesty.
She said they have been the foster parents for some Bruneians a few years back and said they came here
to return the favour to their Bruneian foster children.
"It's good that we came here at the right time because we really wanted to meet His Majesty,"she said.
"We have been reading about your Sultan and have always been fascinated with how his wise leadership has transformed the country and how he takes care of his people," she added.
She further added that they also came to Brunei to meet their foster children who stayed with them in Bandung.
Describing her experience after meeting His Majesty, she said they conveyed their birthday greeting to the monarch and had a brief conversation.
"It is such an honour and we from Bandung would like to wish His Majesty a happy birthday and send our best wishes on this special occasion."
Meanwhile, Dra Hjh Lusi Soeria Soemantri, who is also part of the group shared similar sentiments with Nani.
"We are so delighted to have met His Majesty and the royal family." She was thrilled to have had the chance to greet the monarch and felt so happy after extending her birthday wishes.
Hjh Lusi who is on a wheel-chair was glad to have the opportunity to meet the monarch and extend her greetings. "He is very nice indeed," she said.
