In light of the historical event of Israk Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a ceremony yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Defence Surau at Bolkiah Garrison.
Present at the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence, Colonel (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Hj Azmansham bin Pg Hj Mohammad. Also present were the Deputy Commander of the RBAF, Deputy Permanent Secretary, military and civilian directors, senior officers, and officers of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
The ceremony began with the reading of al-Quran, which was followed by a special religious talk given by the guest speaker, Ustaz Hj Suhaimi bin Hj Petra, a lecturer from the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB).
The ceremony aimed to provide awareness to those present of the importance of Solat through lessons from Israk and Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Yesterday morning also saw the Israk Mikraj event held at the Ministry of Defence surau for women military personnel and was also highlighted with a special religious talk by guest speaker Ustazah Junainah binti Hj Gunong.
The guest of honour at that event was Lt Col Hjh Hasimah binti Hj Abu Bakar, Deputy Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF. It was also attended by RBAF women senior officers and personnel, as well as civilian officers and staff of MinDef. Similar ceremonies were also simultaneously held at suraus of all military garrisons and camps throughout the RBAF.
