Drawn to the beauty of Islam, a Chinese man embraced Islam in a ceremony held at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Belait District Branch yesterday.
Jeffri Liew Yau Kuan recited the 'Dua Kalimah Syahadah' before the Head of the Belait Propagation Section, Awg Roslan bin Hj Ratu to signify his conversion to Islam. He is now known by his Muslim name, Awg Jeffri Liew Yau Kuan bin Abdullah.
Awg Jeffri, 56, is a divorcee and a father of two. The self-employed electrician noted that it had been his longtime wish to convert to Islam.
He added that he intends to further enrich his knowledge of Islam and its practices.
Awg Roslan said the section will constantly offer guidance to new converts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge through basic and advanced courses designed for them.
The event ended with a presentation of a memento to Awg Jeffri.
