A 43-year-old local man was fined B$10,000, or to serve 10 months in jail in default of payment, after pleading guilty to smuggling fuel out of the country.
Saidi bin Hj Bakir was detained at the Kuala Lurah Control Post on March 30, 2012 at 12 Noon.
The defendant claimed he had nothing to declare when inquired before departing the country.
However, an inspection that followed revealed that the defendant was carrying eight plastic containers containing 190 litres of diesel fuel.
