Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) was established as a platform for charitable contributions and endowments from His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family to the citizens of Brunei, while at the same time shaping a prosperous and peaceful community in the Sultanate.
The programme of providing housing assistance under the YSHHB Housing Scheme for underprivileged is aimed at providing better living through comfortable housing and a harmonious home.
A key handing over presentation ceremony was held for 42-year-old Dayang Saunah binti Abu Bakar at her newly-built home in Kg Birau, Tutong District.
The guest of honour was Awang Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who also handed over the key to the recipient.
The new home of Dayang Saunah, which cost $43,500 has three rooms equipped with a living room, kitchen and bathroom. Dayang Saunah who received tithe as she falls under the category who is eligible, also paid for the construction of the house using those funds.
"I am thankful to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for such a donation," Dayang Saunah said, after receiving the keys to the new house from the Managing Director of YSHHB.
Also present were senior officers of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Penghulu, village heads and other government officials.
