Members of the public yesterday morning experienced the impact of a low speed collision in a road safety campaign organised by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP).
The seat belt convincer, an educational tool, allows riders to experience the force of up to five times their body weight. This is similar to the impact of a 10-15 kilometre per hour crash.
The campaign also showcased activities and booth exhibitions which highlighted the use of seatbelts and other road safety practices.
The campaign held at the Brunei Shell Recreational Club in Seria was spearheaded by the 'HSE Group' comprising BSP personnel and staff as well as its contractors.
It aimed to promote a safer driving on Brunei roads and support the government's implementation of the UN Decade of Action. It also demonstrated the BSJC Companies' commitment and continuous efforts to be a driving force in promoting road safety.
The guest of honour was BSP Asset Director Hjh Rosmawatty Abd Mumin.
Brunei Tell-A-Friend Group also participated in the campaign, which promotes the five ways to stay safe on the road: wearing seatbelts; not using mobile phones; observing speed limits; using pedestrian crossings and wearing helmets when biking.
Also participated were Baker Hughes, Megamas and Schlumberger.
